It has been a big semester for Primary Sport at Brookside College!

We have seen the continuation of our Sports Development program for students in years 3-6. Students are specially selected by the program coordinators for this program and participate in a session once a week before school on Tuesdays (year 5 and 6) and Wednesdays (year 3 and 4). This program has allowed students to further develop their fitness and sports based skills and knowledge. Students challenge themselves by working with students in different year levels and applying their knowledge to various sports scenarios.

During 5/6 Sport Ed, our students trained for Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, Cricket and Softball. Our year 6 students and a few select year 5 students competed within these sports for the Caroline Springs Interschool Sports competition. All students demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and fair play, whilst supporting their teammates to do their best. Students are currently completing year-level house competition and striking/fielding rotations.

Recently, our year 3 and 4 girls participated in a Football Gala here at Brookside. The focus of the day was to increase interest from girls in the Caroline Springs district in local football. Girls had the opportunity to play matches against other schools, participate in a Super-kick Competition and speak to some AFLW players about their experience with football from childhood to AFLW. There girls played their best through all matches and had fun learning some of the skills and strategies of gameplay.
